: 673: Pigs: 2: Al-Qurtubi said in his "Tafsir: 1/374" regarding the phrase "on the Sabbath": It means on the day of the Sabbath, and it is possible that he meant according to the ruling of the Sabbath. Ash-hab narrated from Malik, who said: Ibn Ruman claimed that one of them would take a thread, place a hook on it, and cast it into the tail of the fish. He would tie a peg to the other end of the thread and leave it like that until Sunday. Then people began to emulate this when they saw that one who did it was not afflicted, until the fishing for fish became widespread, and they walked with it in the markets, and the corrupt openly displayed their catching of it. A group stood up and forbade this, spoke out against the prohibition, and distanced themselves.

In the authentic hadith narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A community from the Children of Israel was lost; it is not known what happened to them, and I do not think it is anything but the rats. Do you not see that when camel milk is placed before them, they do not drink it, but when sheep milk is placed before them, they drink it?"
