[It is] weak. It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (H/1460), al-Hakim (4/360), al-Bayhaqi (8/136), al-Tabarani (12/172), al-Fath (10/236), al-Mishkah (3551), al-Kanz (13364), al-Qurtubi (2/48), Ibn Kathir (1/207), Ibn 'Asakir in "al-Tarikh" (3/413), Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (1/282), and al-Daraqutni (3/114).
Ibn Kathir said: "Isma'il ibn Muslim is considered weak in hadith, and the correct view is that it is mawquf (attributed to a Companion) from al-Hasan from Jundub. Al-Tabarani has narrated it from another path from al-Hasan from Jundub as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), and Allah knows best."
