The majority of scholars maintain that exercising patience under the rule of an established Imam is preferable to rebelling against him, because in disputing him and rebelling, one replaces security with fear, causes the shedding of blood, releases the hands of the foolish, unleashes raids upon the Muslims, and spreads corruption on earth. The former view is the doctrine of a faction of the Mu'tazilah, and it is the doctrine of the Khawarij; so know that.

"I agreed with my Lord in three things, or my Lord agreed with me in three things: I said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you would take the Station of Abraham as a place of prayer, so [the verse] 'And take the Station of Abraham as a place of prayer' was revealed. And I said: O Messenger of Allah, the righteous and the immoral enter upon you, so if only you would command the Mothers of the Believers to wear the hijab. Then Allah revealed the verse of the hijab..." the Hadith.
