Translation · EN

al-Jashmi, narrated to us Junub, who is: Ibn 'Abd Allah al-Bajali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: A Bedouin came, made his camel kneel, then hobbled it. Then he prayed behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, had finished praying, he came to his camel, untied its hobble, then mounted it, and then called out: "O Allah, have mercy on me and on Muhammad, and do not include anyone else with us in Your mercy." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Are you saying this, or is he more misguided than his camel? Did you not hear what he said?" They said: "Yes." He said: "You have restricted a vast mercy. Indeed, Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, created one hundred mercies with which all of creation—the jinn, humans, and beasts—show compassion to one another, and He kept ninety-nine mercies with Him. Are you saying this, or is he more misguided than his camel?"

It was narrated by Abu Dawud (H/4885), Ibn Majah (H/530), Ahmad (4/312), al-Hakim (4/248), al-Majma' (10/214), Ibn Kathir (3/479), al-Kanz (3249), al-Mishkat (4858), al-Manthur (3/130), al-Qurtubi (7/322), and al-Khafa' (1/419).

1581: 8332: Yesterday (al-ams): 1: Tafsir al-Tabari: (9/83).

: 8334: He writes (yaktubu): 2: Tafsir al-Qurtubi: (4/2734).

His saying: "They follow" means in his Sharia, his freedom, and what he brought. The Messenger and the Prophet are two names for two meanings; the Messenger is more specific than the Prophet. The Messenger was mentioned first due to the importance of the meaning of the message, otherwise the meaning of Prophethood is the one that precedes. For this reason, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, corrected al-Bara' when he said: "And by Your Messenger whom You have sent." He said to him: "Say: By Your Prophet whom You have sent." (Previous source of al-Qurtubi).
