1935: 10278. The wrongdoers (al-zalimun): 1: Al-Qurtubi said in the interpretation of this verse: This is an interrogation in the sense of denial, meaning: No one is more unjust than one who fabricates a lie against Allah, alters His speech, and attributes to it that which He did not reveal. Thus, no one is more unjust than you if you reject the Quran, fabricate a lie against Allah, and say that this is not His speech. This is among what the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was commanded to say to them. It is also said: It is a statement from Allah initially. And it is said: The fabricator is the polytheist, and the denier of the signs are the People of the Scripture.
1936: 10279. The idols (al-awthan): 1: Similar to it. Tafsir al-Qurtubi (54/3161).
: 10280. Allah: 2: Al-Qurtubi said in the interpretation of His saying, the Almighty: "Our intercessors (shufa'una)," meaning: They intercede for us with Allah regarding the rectification of our livelihood in this world.
: 10284. One (wahidah): 3: Its meaning has already preceded in "al-Baqarah," so there is no point in repeating it.
Al-Zajjaj said: They are the Arabs who were in a state of polytheism. It is also said: Every child born is born upon the fitrah (natural disposition), and they differ upon reaching puberty.
1937: 10289. The expectant (al-muntazirin): 1: Al-Qurtubi said in the interpretation of this verse: He means the people of Makkah, that is: Why is a sign not sent down upon him? Meaning a miracle other than this miracle, so that He turns the mountains into gold for us, and he has a house of gold-ornamentation, and He revives for us those who died among our ancestors.
