2020: 10798. Their Lord: 1: The saying of the Almighty: "humbled themselves" (akhbatu). Ibn Abbas said: Akhbatu: they turned in repentance (anabu). Mujahid said: They obeyed. Qatadah said: They were humbled and submissive. Muqatil said: They were sincere. Al-Hasan said: Al-Ikhbat is the humility for the steadfast adherence in the heart. The root of al-ikhbat is stability, from al-khabt, which is the level, wide earth; so al-ikhbat is humility and tranquility, or the continuous turning in repentance to Allah—the Almighty—that remains on a state of stability.
