2023: 10819. My Lord: 1: Ibn Kathir said in his interpretation of this verse: Meaning, upon certainty, a clear matter, and a truthful prophethood; and it is a great mercy from Allah to him and to them.
: 10822. Disliking (it): 2: Al-Qurtubi said regarding the saying of the Almighty: "Shall we force it upon you?" It is said: The testimony that there is no god but Allah. It is also said: The pronoun (hu) refers to mercy. It is also said: To the evidence (al-bayyinah), meaning: Shall we force you to accept it, and make it obligatory upon you? This is an interrogative in the sense of denial, meaning: It is not possible for me to force you to acknowledge it. Noah—peace be upon him—only intended by this statement to respond to them.
: 10827. I drive them away: 3: Al-Farra' said: Meaning, who would prevent me from His punishment? And His saying, the Almighty, "If I drive them away," i.e., because of their belief.
