: 11041. Munib (Penitent): 2: This verse is a commendation of Abraham, peace be upon him, for these beautiful qualities, and its interpretation has already been provided.

2059: 11043. Awwah (Compassionate): 1: The meaning of "Awwah, Halim" was previously discussed in "Bara'ah" (Surat al-Tawbah).

And "al-munib" is the one who returns; it is said: he returned (anaba) if he came back.

Abraham, peace and blessings be upon him, was one who returned to Allah the Almighty in all his affairs. It was also said: "al-awwah" is the one who groans out of distress for what the people of Lot missed out on regarding faith.

: 11048. Your Lord: 2: Ibn Kathir said in the interpretation of this verse: That is, the decree has already been executed upon them, the word of punishment has been established against them, and the affliction that cannot be averted has befallen the criminal people.

2061: 11053. By them: 1: Al-Qurtubi said regarding the saying of the Almighty, "He was distressed for them (si'a bihim)": that is, their arrival was grievous. It is said: "sa'a yasu'u" (it was grievous), and it is intransitive. It is also transitive, meaning "sa'ahu yasu'uhu". If you wish, you may damma (vocalize with 'u') the letter Sin because its origin is damma, and the base was "su'a bihim" from "al-su'". The vowel of the Waw was transferred to the Sin, so it (the Waw) changed into a Ya'. If you soften the hamza, you cast its vowel onto the Ya', so you say: "si'a bihim" (softened), and there is an irregular dialect using shaddah.
