mention him with evil while he was absent; rather, I spoke the truth and recounted the treachery. Then she said: "And I do not acquit myself," but rather, I sought to seduce him. According to this, she was acknowledging the Creator, which is why she said: "Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful."

2159: 11705: Repentance (al-tawbah): 1: In the report from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) that he said: "What do you say about a companion of yours: if you honor him, feed him, and clothe him, he leads you to the worst of ends; but if you disgrace him, leave him naked, and starve him, he leads you to the best of ends?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, this is the worst companion on earth." He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is your own souls that are between your sides."

2160: 11712: Enforced (nafidh): 1: Said ibn Mansur said: I heard Malik ibn Anas saying: Egypt is the storehouse of the earth. Have you not heard His saying: "Place me in charge of the storehouses of the earth," meaning: in charge of guarding them? Thus, the added noun (al-mudaf) is omitted.

2162: 11729: Denying: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: Meaning: They came to Egypt when they were afflicted with famine in order to acquire provisions (mirah). Ibn Abbas and others said: When the people were struck by famine and hardship, and this descended upon the land of Canaan, Ya'qub (peace be upon him) sent his sons for provisions.
