al-Muthanna ibn Sulayman, from Abd al-Rahman Abu Ayyub al-Dimashqi, from Abu al-Walid, who said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, from 'Ata', from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him: "I will ask my Lord for forgiveness for you," he says: "until the night of Friday comes, and this is the saying of my brother Ya'qub (Jacob) to his sons."

Al-Bidayah (1/217) and Ibn Kathir (2/490).

Ibn Kathir said: "This is gharib (strange) from this chain of transmission, and there is consideration (nazar) regarding its being marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), and Allah knows best."

2201: 11992: Another place: 1: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (5/3489).

2202: 11997: Prostrating: 1: Ibn Kathir said in his commentary on this verse: Meaning: His parents and his remaining brothers prostrated to him, and they were eleven men. And he said: "O my father, this is the interpretation of my dream from before," meaning: the one he had related to his father previously, "I saw eleven stars," the verse. This was permissible in their religious laws, as when they greeted an elder, they would prostrate to him. This remained permissible from the time of Adam until the law of 'Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him. Then, this was forbidden in this nation (millah), and prostration was made exclusive to the Presence of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted be He.

In the hadith, Mu'adh arrived in Syria and found them prostrating to their bishops. When he returned, he prostrated to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. He said: "What is this, O Mu'adh?" He replied: "I saw them prostrating to their bishops, and you are more deserving that one should prostrate to you, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband due to the greatness of his right over her."

It is hasan (good). It was narrated by Abu Dawud in (Nikah, Chapter "41"), al-Tirmidhi (H/1159), who said: This is a hasan gharib hadith; and Ahmad (4/381, 6/76), al-Hakim (2/187), and Ibn 'Adi.
