Translation · EN

1289: 7281: Their hearts: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: "'Lawla' (Why did they not...) is a particularization, and it is the one followed by a verb in the sense of 'halla' (an urging/reproach), and this is a reproach for abandoning supplication, and an information about them that they did not humble themselves when the punishment descended. It is also permissible that they humbled themselves with the humility of one who is not sincere, or that they humbled themselves when the punishment was enveloping them. Humility in these states is of no benefit. Supplication is commanded in times of both ease and hardship; Allah, the Exalted, said: 'Call upon Me; I will answer you.'

1290: 7282: They were reminded of it: 1: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (2/132).

: 7283: The worlds: 2: Al-Manthur: (2/12).

: 7286: Provision: 3: Tafsir 'Abd al-Razzaq: (1/203).

And al-Kanz (30743), al-Sahihah (413), and al-Qurtubi (4/2423).

1293: 7303: The people: 1: In the hadith from Ibn Mas'ud: 'There are people among mankind who do not come to the prayer except in a backward manner (dubariyan),' meaning at the end of the time. The meaning here is the cutting off of their successors from their offspring and others, such that no remainder of them was left. See, Tafsir al-Qurtubi: (4/2423).
