1401: 7975: That: 1: Scholars have three opinions regarding "al-an'am" (cattle/livestock): First, that al-an'am refers specifically to camels, and its clarification will come in "Surat al-Nahl". Second, that al-an'am are camels alone, and if cattle and sheep are with them, they are also al-an'am. Third, and this is the most correct, as stated by Ahmad ibn Yahya: Al-an'am is every animal that Allah—the Exalted and Majestic—has permitted. Evidence for the correctness of this is His, the Almighty's, saying: "The grazing livestock (bahimat al-an'am) are made lawful for you, except what is recited to you."
