provisions, and indeed Allah gives wealth to whom He loves and to whom He does not love, and He does not give faith except to whom He loves."

Al-Majma' (10/228), attributed to Ahmad, and its narrators are documented as reliable, though there is some disagreement regarding some of them.

3016: 17151: With them: 1: It was narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri - may Allah be pleased with him - who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "While a man from among those who were before you was walking in two cloaks, acting arrogantly in them, Allah commanded the earth, so it seized him, and he will continue to sink into it until the Day of Resurrection."

Al-Targhib (3/568) and Ibn Kathir (3/400).

3018: 17155: The earth: 1: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (3/401).

3022: 17174: Paradise: 1: Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: (7/5036).

: 17175: Paradise: 2: The previous source.

3023: 17181: For the righteous: 1: Abu Mu'awiyah said: He who does not desire superiority is he who does not fret over being humbled, nor does he compete for honor; the highest of them before Allah is the most humble of them, and the most honored of them tomorrow is the one most committed to being humble today.

3024: 17189: That: 1: See, Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: (5036).

3025: 17199: He said: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: The Surah concludes with glad tidings to His Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he would be returned to Mecca as a conqueror over his enemies.

It was also said: It is glad tidings of Paradise for him.

3026: 17202: Qatadah: 1: Muqatil said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, left the cave at night, emigrating to Mecca, and he longed for it, so Gabriel said to him: Indeed Allah says: "Indeed, He who has ordained for you the Qur'an will restore you to a place of return," meaning: to Mecca, victorious over it.

3027: 17208: Say: 1: Al-Qurtubi added: Meaning: Say to the disbelievers of Mecca when they say: "Indeed, you are in clear error."
