: 17791: Their outer garments (jalabibihinna): 3: The saying of the Exalted, "Of their outer garments (jalabibihinna)," the jalabib are the plural of jilbab, which is a garment larger than the khimar (headscarf). It was narrated from Ibn Abbas and Ibn Mas'ud that it is the rida' (cloak). It has also been said: it is the qina' (veil). The correct view is that it is the garment that covers the entire body. In Sahih Muslim, Umm 'Atiyyah said: "O Messenger of Allah, one of us does not have a jilbab?" He replied: "Let her sister let her use her jilbab."
