He entered upon him, and that was after we had been commanded to observe the hijab (veil). The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Both of you, screen yourselves from him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is he not blind, unable to see us or recognize us?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Are the two of you also blind? Do you not see him?"

2576: 14410: Their oaths (right hands): 1: The Hafiz Ibn 'Asakir mentioned in his "Tarikh" (History), in the biography of Khadij al-Himsiyy, the freed slave of Mu'awiyah, that 'Abdullah ibn Mas'adah al-Fazari was a dark-skinned man of intense complexion, and that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had gifted him to his daughter Fatimah, who raised him and then emancipated him. Then, after all of that, he was with Mu'awiyah during the days of Siffin, and he was among the people most severe against 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). Imam Ahmad narrated: Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah told us, from al-Zuhri, from Nabhan, from Umm Salamah, who mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "If one of you has a mukatab (a slave with a contract of manumission) and he has the means to fulfill the payment, then she should screen herself from him."
