who cause corruption in the land and do not bring about reform. Al-Suddi and others said: Allah the Almighty inspired Salih, saying: "Your people will hamstring your she-camel." He told them this, so they said: "We would never do such a thing." Salih then said to them: "A boy will be born in this month of yours who will hamstring her, and your destruction will be at his hands." They responded: "No male shall be born in this month but that we will kill him." Consequently, nine of them had sons born to them that month, so they slaughtered their sons. Then a tenth one had a son born, but he refused to slaughter his son, as he had not had children before. The son of the tenth man was fair-skinned with red hair and grew rapidly. Whenever he passed by the nine, they would see him and say: "If our sons were alive, they would have been like this one."

The nine became angry at Salih because he was the cause of them killing their sons, so they banded together and swore by Allah that they would surely attack him and his household by night.
