[His saying (Exalted is He): "The righteous"]
2406 - Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Zunayj reported to us, Salamah reported to us, from Muhammad b. Ishaq, he said in what Muhammad b. Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "The righteous" means those who are wary of the punishment of Allah and the abandonment of what they recognize of caprice (hawa), and who hope for His mercy by affirming what has come from Him.
His saying (Exalted is He): "Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses so that you might reason."
2407 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "Thus," he means: Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses.
2408 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh b. al-Faraj reported to us, I heard 'Abd al-Rahman b. Zayd b. Aslam, regarding the saying of Allah: "...might reason," he said: They reflect.
His saying (Exalted is He): "Have you not seen those who left their homes while they were in the thousands?"
[The First Aspect]
2409 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani reported to us, from al-Nadr, meaning: Abu 'Umar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Have you not seen those who left their homes while they were in the thousands, fearing death": He said: They were from a village called Dawardan. It was narrated from al-Suddi something similar to that, and al-Suddi added: Dawardan is before Wasit. It was also narrated from Abu Salih the same.
2410 - My father narrated to me, Hisham b. Khalid reported to us, Muhammad b. Shu'ayb b. Shabur reported to us, he said: I heard Sa'id b. 'Abd al-'Aziz saying regarding the saying of Allah: "...those who left their homes while they were in the thousands": He said: They are from Adhri'at.

2411 - Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim b. 'Abd Allah al-Harawi reported to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: I asked 'Ata': "Have you not seen those who left their homes while they were in the thousands?" He said: It is a parable.

٢٤٠٦ - حدثنا محمد بن نحيى، ابنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ زُنَيْجٌ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ فِيمَا حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ الْمُتَّقِينَ أَيِ الَّذِينَ يَحْذَرُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ عُقُوبَتَهُ وترك مَا يَعْرِفُونَ مِنَ الْهَوَى، وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُ، بِتَصْدِيقِ مَا جَاءَ مِنْهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
٢٤٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زرعة، ثنا نحيى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: كَذَلِكَ يَعْنِي:
هَكَذَا يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ.
٢٤٠٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: يَعْقِلُونَ قَالَ: يَتَفَكَّرُونَ.
قَوْلُه تَعَالَى أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا من ديارهم وهم ألوف

٢٤٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ يَعْنِي: أَبَا عُمَرَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ قَالَ: كَانُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ قَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا: دَاوِرْدَانُ- وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ، وَزَادَ السُّدِّيُّ: دَاوِرْدَانُ قَبْلَ وَاسِطٍ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
٢٤١٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، يَقُولُ: فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: الَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ قَالَ: هُمْ مِنْ أَذْرُعَاتَ

٢٤١١ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الهروي، ابنا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَطَاءً أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ قال: مَثَلٌ.
