The Third Aspect:

2487 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz b. Munib reported to us, al-Fadl b. Khalid reported to us, 'Ubayd b. Sulayman reported to us, saying: I heard al-Dahhak b. Muzahim say regarding His saying: "And a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron left behind"—he means by the remnant: fighting in the path of Allah, and by that they fought alongside Saul (Talut), and by that they were commanded.

The Fourth Aspect:

2488 - Al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, saying: I asked al-Thawri regarding His saying: "And a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron left behind"—he said: Among them are those who say: The remnant is a qafiz of manna and fragments (ridad) of the tablets, and among them are those who say: The staffs and the sandals.

His saying: "The angels bear it"

2489 - Al-Hasan b. al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, 'Abd al-Samad b. Ma'qil reported to us, that he heard Wahb b. Munabbih say: Allah revealed to a prophet among the prophets, whether it was Daniel or someone else: If you wish for the plague to be lifted from you, then cast this Ark away from you. They said: By what sign? He said: By the sign that you bring two stubborn cows that have never done any work at all. When you look at them, you shall place their necks for the yoke (nayr) until it is fastened upon them, then the Ark is fastened to a cart, then it is attached to the two cows, then they are released to go wherever Allah intends for them to reach. They did that, and He appointed four angels to drive them. The two cows then traveled with it quickly, until when they reached the edge of Jerusalem, they broke their yoke, cut their ropes, and went away. David and those with him descended toward them, and when David saw the Ark, he hobbled (hajala) toward it in joy for it. He said: We said to Wahb: What does "he hobbled toward it" mean? He said: Resembling dancing.

٢٤٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قال: سمعت الضحاك بن مُزَاحِمٍ قَالَ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ آلُ مُوسَى وَآلُ هَارُونُ يَعْنِي بِالْبَقِيَّةِ: الْقِتَالَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَبِذَلِكَ قَاتَلُوا مَعَ طَالُوتَ، وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرُوا.

وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:

٢٤٨٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أبنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «١» قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الثَّوْرِيَّ، عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ آلُ مُوسَى وَآلُ هَارُونَ قَالَ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ: الْبَقِيَّةُ:

قَفِيزٌ مِنْ من ورفاض الأَلْوَاحِ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ: الْعِصِيُّ وَالنَّعْلانِ.

قَوْلُهُ: تحمله الملائكة

٢٤٨٩ - حدثنا الحسن بن الرَّبِيعِ، أبنا عَبْدُ الرَّازَّقِ «٢» ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ: أَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَى نَبِيٍّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ إِمَّا دَانْيَالُ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ، إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يُرْفَعَ عَنْكُمُ الْمَرَضُ، فَأَخْرِجُوا عَنْكُمْ هَذَا التَّابُوتَ. قَالُوا: بِآيَةِ مَاذَا؟

قَالَ بِآيَةِ أَنَّكُمْ تَأْتُونَ بِبَقَرَتَيْنِ صَعْبَتَيْنِ لَمْ يَعْمَلا عَمَلا قَطُّ. فَإِذَا نَظَرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمَا، وَضَعْتُمْ أَعْنَاقَهُمَا لِلنَّيرِ «٣» حَتَّى يُشَدَّ عَلَيْهِمَا، ثم يشد التابوب عَلَى عَجَلٍ، ثُمَّ يُعَلَّقُ عَلَى الْبَقَرَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ تُخَلَّيَانِ فَتَسِيرَانَ حَيْثُ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُبْلِغَهُمَا. فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ، وَوَكَّلَ بِهِمَا أَرْبَعَةً مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ يَسُوقُونَهُمَا، فَسَارَتِ الْبَقَرَتَانِ بِهَا سَيْرًا سَرِيعًا، حَتَّى إذا بلغتا طرف القدس كسرتا نيرهما، وقطعت حِبَالَهُمَا، وَذَهَبَتَا. فَنَزَلَ إِلَيْهِمَا دَاوُدُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى دَاوُدُ التَّابُوتَ حَجِلَ إِلَيْهَا فَرَحًا بِهَا قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا لِوَهْبٍ: مَا حَجِلَ إِلَيْهَا؟ قَالَ:

مُشْتَبِهًا بِالرَّقْصِ
