His saying, the Exalted: "They said: No power have we today against Jalut and his soldiers."
2516 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat b. Nasr reported to us, from al-Suddi, who said: They looked at Jalut, turned back, and said: "No power have we today against Jalut and his soldiers." Jalut was among the greatest of people and the most severe in might. He would go out and march in front of the army, and his companions would not assemble with him until he had already defeated whoever he encountered.
His saying: "And his soldiers."
2517 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far reported to us, from his father, from al-Rabi', who said: Jalut came with a large number and equipment.

2518 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi: "Those who believe that they will meet Allah": Those who are certain.

2519 - My father narrated to us, Yahya b. al-Mughirah reported to us, Jarir reported to us, from Ya'qub, from Ja'far, from Sa'id, regarding His saying: "Those who believe that they will meet Allah," he said: Those who sold their souls to Allah, and prepared them for death.
2520 - Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn b. Muhammad al-Marrudhi reported to us, Shayban reported to us, from Qatadah: He said, "Those who believe that they will meet Allah" - "How many a small group has overcome a large group by the permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient." He said: You find the believers, some of them are far superior to others in determination, and they are all believers.

2521 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Haytham b. Yaman reported to us, a man whose name he mentioned reported to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "How many a small group has overcome a large group by the permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient": So Allah affirmed faith for these people who said: "How many a small group has overcome a large group by the permission of Allah."
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالُوا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا الْيَوْمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِ
٢٥١٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ: فَنَظَرُوا إِلَى جَالُوتَ، رَجَعُوا وَقَالُوا: لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا الْيَوْمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِ وَكَانَ جَالُوتُ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ النَّاسِ وَأَشَدِّهِمْ بَأْسًا، فَخَرَجَ يَسِيرُ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْجُنْدِ، فَلا يَجْتَمِعُ إِلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُهُ، حَتَّى يَهْزِمَ هُوَ مَنْ لَقِيَ.

٢٥١٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَ جَالُوتُ فِي عَدَدٍ كَثِيرٍ وَعِدَّةٍ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالَ الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ
٢٥١٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُمْ ملاقوا اللَّهِ: الَّذِينَ يَسْتَيقِنُونَ
قوله: أَنَّهُمْ مُلاقُوا اللَّهِ
٢٥١٩ - حدثنا أبي، ثنا نحيى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، أبنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُلاقُوا اللَّهِ قَالَ: الَّذِينَ شَرَوْا أَنْفُسَهُمْ لِلَّهِ، وَوَطَّنُوهَا عَلَى الْمَوْتِ.
٢٥٢٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ الطُّوسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ، ثنا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: قَالَ الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُلاقُوا اللَّهِ كَمْ مِنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كثيرة بإذن الله والله مع الصَّابِرِينَ قَالَ: تَلْقَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، بَعْضُهُمْ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ جِدًّا وَعَزْمًا، وَهُمْ كُلُّهُمْ مُؤْمِنُونَ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: كَمْ مِنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِيرَةً
٢٥٢١ - حدثنا علي بن الحسين، ثنا اله يثم بْنُ يَمَانٍ، ثنا رَجُلٌ سَمَّاهُ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَمْ مِنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِيرَةً بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ: فَأَثْبَتَ اللَّهُ الإِيمَانَ لِهَؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا: كَمْ مِنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِيرَةً بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ
