His saying: "And believes in Allah."
2623 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, meaning His saying: "And believes in Allah," meaning: they attest to the oneness of Allah.
His saying: "Then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold."

2624 - 'Amr b. 'Abd Allah al-Awdi narrated to us, Waki' reported to us, from Sufyan, from Abu al-Sawda' al-Nahdi, from Ja'far b. Abi al-Mughirah, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "Then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold." He said: "There is no god but Allah" (la ilaha illa Allah). It is narrated from Mujahid and Sa'id b. Jubayr the same.

2625 - Mughirah b. Hassan mentioned, saying: I heard Anas b. Malik mentioning regarding His saying "Then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold," he said: It is the Qur'an.

2626 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. 'Imran reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Maghra' Abu Zuhayr reported to us, al-Hasan b. Salim b. Abi al-Ja'd reported to us, saying: I heard Mukharriq b. Tha'labah say: I heard Salim b. Abi al-Ja'd saying: The most trustworthy handhold is to love for the sake of Allah and to hate for the sake of Allah.

2627 - al-Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1) regarding His saying: "the most trustworthy handhold," he said: It is faith (al-iman).
It is narrated from al-Suddi: It is Islam.
His saying, the Exalted: "It has no breaking."

2628 - My father narrated to us, Surayj b. al-Nu'man reported to us, Ibn al-Rammah, meaning 'Amr b. Maymun, reported to us, Humayd b. Abi al-Khuza'a reported to us, saying: Mu'adh b. Jabal was asked about the saying of Allah:

٢٦٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّوْدَاءِ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوثْقَى قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، مِثْلُهُ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٢٦٢٥ - ذَكَرَ مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَذْكُرُ فِي قَوْلِهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةَ الْوثْقَى قَالَ الْقُرْآنُ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:
٢٦٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءَ أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُخَارِقَ بْنَ ثَعْلَبَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ يَقُولُ: الْعُرْوَةُ الْوثْقَى: الْحَبُّ فِي اللَّهِ وَالْبُغْضُ فِي اللَّهِ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:
٢٦٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١»
فِي قَوْلِهِ: بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوثْقَى: الإِيمَانُ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ: الإِسْلامُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لا انفصام لها
