Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And when he turns away"

1924 - Muhammad b. al-'Abbas, the mawla of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, Muhammad b. Ishaq narrated to us, from Muhammad, a mawla of the family of Zayd b. Thabit, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And when he turns away," meaning: when he leaves your presence. Similar to this was narrated from al-Suddi.

1925 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Nadr, meaning: Ibn al-'Arabi, from Mujahid, who said: It was said, "O Abu al-Hajjaj, how does he turn away therein?" He said: He assumes power on earth and acts therein with aggression and injustice.

His saying: "He strives on the earth"

1926 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "He strives," meaning: he acts on the earth.

His saying: "To cause corruption therein"

1927 - Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim b. 'Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: I said to 'Ata': "'And when he turns away, he strives on the earth to cause corruption therein,'" he said: The harth (tilth) is the crops; he cuts them, meaning: he destroys them.

Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn b. Muhammad al-Marrudhi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah: "To cause corruption therein," he said: He causes corruption on earth, being a destroyer of the servants of Allah.

1928 - It was read to Yunus, Ibn Wahb reported to us, he said: Malik said to me: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: "And when he turns away, he strives on the earth to cause corruption therein." Malik was of the opinion that corruption on earth is like murder.

His saying: "And to destroy"

1929 - 'Isam b. Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah: "And to destroy the tilth," he said: He burns the tilth that people cultivate, the vegetation of the earth. Similar to this was narrated from al-Suddi.
