a grain that grows seven ears, in each ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills, and Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing."

He said: "So whoever pledged allegiance to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in Medina, and did not go forth anywhere except by his permission, the good deed for him was seven hundredfold. And whoever pledged allegiance to Islam, the good deed for him was ten times its like."

And the third interpretation:

2728 - Ahmad b. 'Amr b. Abi 'Asim narrated to us, my father reported to us, my father reported to us, Shabib b. Bishr reported to us, 'Ikrimah reported to us, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is as the example of a grain that grows seven ears, in each ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills." Ibn 'Abbas said: "Spending for Hajj and Jihad is the same; one dirham is equal to seven hundred, because it is in the way of Allah."

His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah multiplies for whom He wills"

2729 - Abu Khallad Sulayman b. Khallad narrated to us, Yunus b. Muhammad al-Mu'addib reported to us, Muhammad b. 'Uqbah al-Rifa'i reported to us, from Ziyad al-Jassas, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: 'Indeed, Allah the Almighty and Majestic multiplies the good deed two million times.'"

2730 - My father narrated to us, Harun b. 'Abd Allah b. Marwan reported to us, Ibn Abi Fudayk reported to us, from al-Khalil b. 'Abd Allah, from al-Hasan, from 'Imran b. Husayn, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "Whoever sends spending in the way of Allah and stays in his home, he has for every dirham seven hundred dirhams. And whoever goes on an expedition himself in the way of Allah, and spends in that journey of his, he has for every dirham on the Day of Resurrection seven hundred thousand dirhams." Then he recited this verse: "And Allah multiplies for whom He wills."

His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing"

2731 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Lahi'ah reported to us, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding His saying: "All-Knowing," meaning: "Knowing of what will be."
