2795 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, and al-Hasan b. 'Ali narrated to us, Yahya b. Adam reported to us, both said: Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And from that which We have produced for you from the earth," he said: The palm trees. And in the hadith of Hajjaj: He reported to us, "And from that which We have produced for you from the earth": from the palm trees; they used to give as charity its inferior dates (hashaf) and its worst, so they were forbidden from that, and were ordered to give as charity its good part. Ibn Abi Za'idah disagreed with them; my father narrated to us, Sahl b. 'Uthman reported to us, Yahya b. Abi Za'idah reported to us, Warqa' narrated to me, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "And from that which We have produced for you from the earth," he said: The vegetation.

2796 - I read to Muhammad b. al-Fadl, Muhammad b. 'Ali reported to us, Muhammad b. Muzahim reported to us, from Bukayr b. Ma'ruf, from Muqatil b. Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And from that which We have produced for you from the earth," meaning by it: The fruits, dates, raisins, grapes, and grains.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And do not aim"

2797 - Abu Sa'id b. Yahya al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Amr al-'Anqazi reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from 'Adi b. Thabit, from al-Bara' b. 'Azib, regarding His saying: "And do not aim," he says: Do not deliberately choose. And it was narrated from Muqatil b. Hayyan something similar.

His saying, Exalted is He: "the evil"

2798 - Abu Sa'id b. Yahya al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Amr al-'Anqazi reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, from 'Adi b. Thabit, from al-Bara' b. 'Azib, regarding His saying: "And do not aim at the evil [part] from it to spend [as charity]," he says: Do not deliberately choose the inferior dates (hashaf) from it to spend [as charity].

2799 - My father narrated to us, Yahya reported to us, Jarir reported to us, from 'Ata' b. al-Sa'ib, from 'Abd Allah b. Ma'qil, regarding this verse: "And do not aim at the evil [part] from it to spend [as charity]," he said: The earnings of a Muslim are not evil, but do not give as charity the inferior dates, the counterfeit dirham, and that which has no good in it. And there is another view concerning it.

2800 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Idris reported to us, from Hisham, from Ibn Sirin, who said: I said to 'Abidah, regarding "And do not aim at the evil [part] from it to spend [as charity]," he said: This is regarding the obligatory Zakat.
