His saying, the Exalted: "...it will be fully repaid to you."
2859 - Abu 'Abd Allah mentioned with his chain of transmission, as you see it, regarding His saying: "...it will be fully repaid to you"—he says: For the people of your religion.
His saying, the Exalted: "And you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah."
2860 - 'Isam b. Rawwad narrated to us, Adam reported to us, Abu Shaybah reported to us, from 'Ata' al-Khurasani, regarding His saying: "And you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah"—he said: When you give for the sake of Allah, it does not concern you what his work is.
2861 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhallim reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, from 'Abbad b. Mansur, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "And you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah"—he said: The expenditure of the believer is for his own self, and the believer does not spend—when he spends—except seeking the countenance of Allah.
His saying: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you."
2862 - Ahmad b. al-Qasim b. 'Atiyyah narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki reported to us, my father reported to us, from his father, al-Ash'ath b. Ishaq reported to us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Prophet, peace be upon him, that he used to command that charity should not be given except to the people of Islam, until this verse was revealed: "Not upon you is [responsibility for] their guidance" until His saying: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged." He then commanded charity after that for anyone who asks you, of any religion.
2863 - Yunus b. 'Abd al-A'la informed us by way of reading, Ibn Wahb reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Shurayh informed me that he heard Yazid b. Abi Habib saying regarding His saying: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you"—he said: This verse was revealed only regarding the Jews and the Christians.
His saying, the Exalted: "And you will not be wronged."
2864 - Muhammad b. al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad b. 'Amr Zunayj reported to us,
قوله تَعَالَى: فَلأَنْفُسِكُمْ
٢٨٥٩ - ذَكَرَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ، تَرَاهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَلأَنْفُسِكُمْ يَقُولُ: لأَهْلِ دِينِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا تُنْفِقُونَ إِلا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ
٢٨٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا تنفقون إلا ابتغاء وجه الله قَالَ: إِذَا أَعْطَيْتَ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ، فَلا عَلَيْكَ مَا كَانَ عَمَلُهُ.
٢٨٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَلِّمٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُونَ إِلا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: نَفَقَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ لِنَفْسِهِ وَلا يُنْفِقُ الْمُؤْمِنُ إِذَا أَنْفَقَ- إِلا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ.
قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ يُوفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ
٢٨٦٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّشْتَكِيُّ ثنا أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ثنا الأَشْعَثُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِأَلا يُصَّدَّقَ إِلا عَلَى أَهْلِ الإِسْلامِ، حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ لَيْسَ عليك هداهم إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ يُوفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لا تُظْلَمُونَ فَأَمَرَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ بَعْدَهَا، عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ سَأَلَكَ مِنْ كُلِّ دِينٍ.
٢٨٦٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قِرَاءَةً أبنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، يَقُولُ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ يُوفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَنْتُمْ لا تُظْلَمُونَ
