Sharik b. 'Abd Allah b. Abi Namir, that it was reported to him that he heard 'Ata' b. Yasar say: Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The poor person is not the one who is turned away by a date or two, or a morsel or two. Verily, the poor person is the self-restrained one." Read, if you wish: "They do not ask people persistently."
2877 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. al-Rijal reported to us, from 'Umarah b. Ghaziyyah, from 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Sa'id, who said: Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever asks while possessing the value of an uqiyah, he is persistent (in asking)." The uqiyah is forty dirhams.
His saying, the Exalted: "And whatever you spend of good, indeed Allah is Knowing of it."
2878 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhallim reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur reported to us, saying: I asked al-Hasan about the saying of Allah the Exalted: "They do not ask people persistently," and he said: Allah pointed the believers to them, provided their charities for them, commanded them to place their charities with them, and was pleased with them. And He said: "And whatever you spend of good, indeed Allah is Knowing of it."
2879 - Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn b. Muhammad al-Marwudhi reported to us, Shayban b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And whatever you spend of good, indeed Allah is Knowing of it," he said: That is preserved with Allah, He is knowing of it, appreciative of it, and there is nothing more appreciative than Allah, nor more rewarding of good than Allah.
His saying, the Exalted: "Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and publicly."

2880 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Sulayman b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, Muhammad b. Shu'ayb reported to us, saying: I heard Sa'id b. Sinan narrating from Yazid b. 'Abd Allah b. 'Arib al-Mulayki, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), that he said: This verse was revealed: "Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and publicly, so they will have their reward with their Lord," regarding the owners of horses.

شَرِيكَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ يَقُولُ: قَالَ: أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ، وَاللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ، إِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ: الْمُتَعَفِّفَ «١» اقرءوا إن شئتم لا يسئلون النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا
٢٨٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الرِّجَالِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ سَأَلَ وَلَهُ قِيمَةُ وُقِيَّةٍ فَهُوَ مُلْحِفٌ، وَالْوُقِيَّةُ: أَرْبَعُونَ دِرْهَمًا «٢» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ
٢٨٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَلِّمٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْحَسَنَ، عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى لا يسئلون النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا فَقَالَ: دَلَّ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَجَعَلَ نَفَقَاتِهِمْ لَهُمْ وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَضَعُوا نَفَقَاتِهِمْ فِيهِمْ وَرَضِيَ عَنْهُمْ، وَقَالَ وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ
٢٨٧٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ الطُّوسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ، ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ قَالَ مَحْفُوظٌ ذَلِكَ عَنِ اللَّهِ، عَالِمٌ بِهِ، شَاكِرٌ لَهُ، وَأَنَّهُ لَا شَيْءَ أَشْكَرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ، لا أَجْزَأَ بِخَيْرٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: الَّذِينَ ينفقون أموالهم بالليل والنهار سرا وعلانية

٢٨٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ سِنَانٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَرِيبٍ الْمُلَيْكِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ: الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أجرهم عند ربهم في أصحاب الخيل.
