Translation · EN

‘Ali al-Qurashi, from Muhammad b. Ishaq, regarding his saying: "then write it down. And let a scribe write between you with justice," he said: It is abrogated; it was abrogated by "And if you rely upon one another, then let him who is entrusted fulfill his trust."

His saying: "And let a scribe write between you with justice"

2955 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, Bukayr b. Ma'ruf informed us, from Muqatil b. Hayyan, regarding the saying of Allah: "And let a scribe write between you with justice," He commanded the scribe to write between them with justice.

His saying: "between you"

2956 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "between you," between the seller and the buyer.

His saying: "a scribe with justice"

2957 - And by the same chain from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "a scribe with justice," meaning: he acts justly between them in his writing, neither increasing the requested amount nor decreasing the right of the claimant.

2958 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, regarding his saying: "with justice," he says: with the truth.

His saying: "And let no scribe refuse"

2959 - 'Abd Allah b. Sulayman narrated to us, Ham b. Nuh reported to us, Abu Mu'adh reported to us, Abu Muslih reported to us, from al-Dahhak, regarding his saying: "And let no scribe refuse," he says: It is not appropriate for the scribe to refuse to write as Allah has taught him.

2960 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Wiqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And let no scribe refuse," he said: It is obligatory for the scribe to write. It is also narrated from al-Rabi' b. Anas the same. And it is narrated from 'Ata' and al-Sha'bi that they both said: He shall not refuse to write.
