3138 - Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn b. Muhammad al-Marrudhi reported to us, Shayban b. 'Abd al-Rahman al-Tamimi reported to us, from Qatada regarding "And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel before," he said: "They are two Books that Allah revealed: the Torah and the Gospel."

3139 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan b. al-Rabi' reported to us, Ibn Idris reported to us, Muhammad b. Ishaq reported to us, he said: "And He revealed the Torah which Musa brought, and the Gospel which 'Isa brought, upon both of them be peace and blessings."

His saying (the Exalted): "A guidance for mankind."

3140 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym and 'Isa b. Ja'far reported to us, they both said: Sufyan reported to us, from Bayan, from al-Sha'bi regarding His saying: "A guidance for mankind," he said: "Guidance from error."

3141 - Musa b. Harun informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn b. Muhammad reported to us, Shayban reported to us, from Qatada regarding: "A guidance for mankind," he said: "A clarification from Allah."

3142 - And by the same chain from Qatada regarding: "A guidance for mankind," he said: "A protection for those who take hold of it, believe in it, and act upon what is in it."

His saying (the Exalted): "And He revealed the Criterion (al-Furqan)."

3143 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Raja' reported to us, 'Imran Abu al-'Awwam al-Qattan informed us, from Qatada, from Abu al-Malih, from Wathila that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The Qur'an was revealed on the twenty-fourth night of Ramadan."

3144 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Talid reported to us, from 'Ata' b. al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id b. Jubayr regarding His saying: "And He revealed the Criterion," he said: "The closing verses of Surah al-Baqarah are from a treasure beneath the Throne."

3145 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far reported to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' regarding His saying: "And He revealed the Criterion," he said: "The Qur'an; it distinguished between truth and falsehood." A similar account to that was narrated from 'Ata', Mujahid, Miqsam, Qatada, and Muqatil b. Hayyan.

3146 - Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, Shayban b. Muhammad al-Marrudhi reported to us, from Qatada regarding His saying: "And He revealed the Criterion," he said: "It is the Qur'an that Allah revealed upon"
