[The Third Aspect:]

3192 - Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah reported to us, he said: Muhammad b. Ishaq said: His saying: "seeking discord," meaning: obfuscation.

[His saying, the Exalted: "and seeking its interpretation"]

[The First Aspect]

3193 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Talhah al-Qannad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi regarding "and seeking its interpretation," he said: They wanted to know the interpretation of the Qur'an, which is its consequences.

And the Second Aspect:

3194 - I read to Muhammad b. al-Fadl, Muhammad b. 'Ali reported to us, Muhammad b. Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr b. Ma'ruf, from Muqatil: Regarding His saying: "and seeking its interpretation," he said: And seeking what will be and how much it will be.

And the Third Aspect:

3195 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhkam reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur reported to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "and seeking its interpretation," and he said: Its interpretation is the judgment regarding it on the Day of Resurrection.

And the Fourth Aspect:

3196 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan b. al-Rabi' reported to us, Ibn Idris reported to us, Muhammad b. Ishaq reported to us, regarding His saying: "and seeking its interpretation," that which they interpreted and embellished of misguidance so that those who hold innovations might adopt it, in order for it to be an argument for them against those who oppose them, due to the manipulation and distortion they were afflicted with, such as the inclination of desires, the deviation of hearts, and the turning away from the truth which they invented out of innovation.

His saying, the Exalted: "but no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah"

[The First Aspect]

3197 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah b. Salih narrated to me, and from 'Ali b. Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: regarding His saying: "but no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah," he said: Its interpretation on the Day of Resurrection, no one knows it except Allah.

٣١٩٢ - حدثنا محمد بن نحيى، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: قَوْلُهُ: ابْتِغَاءَ الْفِتْنَةِ أَيِ: اللبس.

٣١٩٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ طَلْحَةَ الْقَنَّادُ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِيلِهِ قَالَ: وَأَرَادُوا أَنْ يَعْلَمُوا تَأْوِيلَ الْقُرْآنِ وَهُوَ عَوَاقِبُهُ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٣١٩٤ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلٍ: قَوْلُهُ: ابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِيلِهِ قَالَ وَابْتِغَاءَ مَا يَكُونُ وَكَمْ يَكُونُ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:

٣١٩٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحْكَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْحَسَنَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: وابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِيلِهِ فَقَالَ: تَأْوِيلُهُ:

الْقَضَاءُ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:

٣١٩٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَوْلُهُ: ابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِيلِهِ مَا تَأَوَّلُوا وَزَيَّنُوا مِنَ الضلالة ليجيئ لَهُمُ الَّذِينَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ مِنَ الْبِدْعَةَ، لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ بِهِ حَجَّةٌ عَلَى مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ لِلتَّصْرِيفِ وَالتَّحْرِيفِ الَّذِي ابْتُلُوا بِهِ، كَمَيْلِ الأَهْوَاءِ وَزَيغِ الْقُلُوبِ، وَالتَّنْكِيبِ عَنِ الْحَقِّ الَّذِي أَحْدَثُوا مِنَ الْبِدْعَةِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُ إِلا الله

٣١٩٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، وعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُ إِلا اللَّهُ قَالَ: تَأْوِيلُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ إِلا اللَّهُ.
