His saying, the Exalted: "In two factions which met"
3237 - Muhammad b. al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj reported to us, Salama reported to us who said: Muhammad b. Ishaq said: Muhammad, the freed slave of the family of Zayd b. Thabit, narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "There has already been for you a sign in two factions which met," meaning the companions of Badr from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
3238 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far reported to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas: "There has already been for you a sign in two factions which met," he said: That was on the Day of Badr; the polytheists were nine hundred and fifty men, and the companions of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) were three hundred and thirteen men.
3239 - al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq (1) informed us, al-Thawri informed us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (2) regarding His saying: "There has already been for you a sign in two factions which met," he said: That was the day of Badr, [when] the Muslims and the disbelievers met.
His saying, the Exalted: "One fighting in the way of Allah"
3240 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "One fighting in the way of Allah," he said: Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his companions.
His saying, the Exalted: "In the way of Allah"
3241 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah reported to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty and Majestic: "In the way of Allah," meaning: in the obedience of Allah.
His saying, the Exalted: "And another [which was] disbelieving"
3242 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And another [which was] disbelieving," he said: The polytheists of Quraysh on the Day of Badr.
