3266 - By the same chain, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "Of gold and silver," he said: Minted dinars.

His saying, the Exalted: "And horses."

3267 - Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaybah and 'Uthman said: Yunus b. Muhammad reported to us, from 'Imran b. Muhammad b. Sa'id—who is Ibn al-Musayyib—from his father, from Sa'id b. al-Musayyib, regarding His saying: "The marked horses (al-musawwamah)," he said: They are the horses of Allah, chestnut-colored, with white foreheads and white markings on their legs. Sa'id said: It is claimed that a man on the day of Badr saw them descending from the sky.

His saying, the Exalted: "The marked (al-musawwamah)."

[The first aspect]

3268 - Muhammad b. 'Ammar b. al-Harith narrated to us, al-Walid—meaning Ibn Salih—reported to us, Sharik reported to us, from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "The marked horses" are the grazing ones and the well-proportioned beautiful ones; then he recited: "There is pasture (shajar) in which you graze (tusimumun)."

3269 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' and Abu Nu'aym reported to us, from Sufyan, from Habib b. Abi Thabit, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding His saying: "The marked horses," he said: They are the grazing ones.

Abu Muhammad said: Something similar has been narrated from 'Abd Allah b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abza, al-Suddi, al-Rabi' b. Anas, and Abu Sinan.

The second aspect:

3270 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "The marked horses," he said: They are those marked with beauty.

3271 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' and Abu Nu'aym reported to us, from Sufyan, from Habib b. Abi Thabit, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "The marked horses," he said: They are the well-proportioned beautiful ones.

Abu Muhammad said: It has been narrated from 'Ikrimah that he said: Their marking is their beauty.
