His saying: "Or do you think that you will enter Paradise?"
1996 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi al-Ghimr narrated to us, Mufaddal b. Fadalah al-Masri narrated to us, he said: I asked Abu Sakhr about the saying of Allah: "Or do you think that you will enter Paradise?" [to the end of the verse]. He said: "Allah, Blessed be His Name, said to the people: 'Do you think that everyone who says "I am a believer" will enter Paradise, when there has not yet come to you the likeness of those who passed away before you?'" He says: "Do you think that you will enter Paradise until there strikes you the like of that which struck those before you: trials; until I test your command in it, and look in it to your sincerity and your obedience during the trial?"
His saying: "When there has not yet come to you"
1997 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi al-Ghimr narrated to us, Mufaddal narrated to us, he said: I asked Abu Sakhr about His saying: "When there has not yet come to you the likeness of those who passed away before you." He says: "I have not yet struck you with trials as I tried those who came before you; I tried them with adversity and distress, and they were shaken."
1998 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas, regarding "When there has not yet come to you," he says: "When you have not yet been tried."
His saying: "The likeness of those who passed away before you"
And by this chain, from al-Rabi' b. Anas, regarding "When there has not yet come to you the likeness of those who passed away before you," he says: "The ways of those who passed away before you."
His saying: "They were afflicted"
1999 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah b. Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali b. Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "Allah, Glorified be He, informed the believers that the world is a dwelling of trial, and that He will test them within it. He informed them that this is how He dealt with His prophets and His chosen ones, so that their hearts might be at ease." So He said: "Adversity and distress afflicted them."
2000 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad b. Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying "afflicted them," he said: "This befell them on the day of the Confederates (al-Ahzab)."
قوله: أُمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ
١٩٩٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْغِمْرِ، ثنا مفضل ابن فَضَالَةَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا صَخْرٍ، عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ الْآيَةَ. قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ اسْمُهُ قَالَ لِلنَّاسِ أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ كُلُّ مَنْ قَالَ إِنِّي مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ يَقُولُ: أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أُصِيبَ بِهِ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ الْبَلايَا، حَتَّى أَخْتَبِرَ فِيهِ أَمَرَكُمْ، وَأَنْظُرَ فِيهِ إِلَى صِدْقِكُمْ وَطَاعَتِكُمْ فِي الْبَلاءِ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ
١٩٩٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْغِمْرِ، ثنا مُفَضَّلٌ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا صَخْرٍ، عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ يَقُولُ: وَلَمْ أَضْرِبْكُمْ بِبَلايَا كَمَا بَلَوْتُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ، بَلَوْتُهُمْ بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ وَزُلْزِلُوا.
١٩٩٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّشْتَكِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ يَقُولُ: وَلَمَّا تُبْتَلُوا.
قَوْلُهُ: مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ
وَبِهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ يَقُولُ: سُنَنُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ: مَسَّتْهُمْ
١٩٩٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا دَارُ بَلاءٍ، وَأَنَّهُ مُبْتَلِيهِمْ فِيهَا، وَأَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّهُ هَكَذَا فَعَلَ بَأَنْبِيَائِهِ وَصَفْوَتِهِ، لِتَطِيبَ أَنْفُسُهُمْ فَقَالَ:
مَسَّتْهُمُ الْبَأْسَاءُ وَالضَّرَّاءُ.
٢٠٠٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، قَوْلُهُ مَسَّتْهُمُ الْبَأْسَاءُ قَالَ: أَصَابَهُمْ هَذَا يَوْمَ الأَحْزَابِ.
