His saying, the Exalted: "And You take away sovereignty from whom You will."
3354 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Usamah reported to us, from al-Rabi', from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "And You take away sovereignty from whom You will," he said: Prophethood.
3355 - Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah reported to us, he said: Muhammad b. Ishaq said regarding "And You honor whom You will and You humiliate whom You will, in Your hand is [all] good," meaning: not to anyone other than You.
His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, You are over all things competent."
3356 - And by the same chain, he said: Muhammad b. Ishaq said: His saying: "Indeed, You are over all things competent," meaning: no one is capable of this other than You, by Your authority and Your power.
His saying, the Exalted: "You cause the night to enter the day and You cause the day to enter the night."
[The First Aspect]
3357 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Salamah b. Raja' reported to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Abd Allah regarding His saying: "You cause the night to enter the day and You cause the day to enter the night," he said: He takes from the summer to the winter and takes from the winter to the summer. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar has been narrated from Mujahid.

3358 - Muhammad b. Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to us, Hafs b. 'Umar al-'Adani informed us, al-Hakam b. Aban narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "You cause the night to enter the day and You cause the day to enter the night," He places it into the night, and what decreases from the night He places into the day. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar was narrated from Sa'id b. Jubayr, Mujahid (in one of his two opinions), Muhammad b. Ka'b al-Qurazi, 'Ikrimah, al-Hasan, al-Rabi' b. Anas, and Qatadah.
3359 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "You cause the night to enter the day," until the night is fifteen hours and the day is nine hours; "and You cause the day to enter the night," until the day is fifteen hours and the night is nine hours.

قوله تَعَالَى: وَتَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشَاءُ
٣٣٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أُسَامَةُ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ:
وَتَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشَاءُ قَالَ: النُّبُوَّةَ.
٣٣٥٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ أَيْ: لَا إِلَى غَيْرِكَ.
قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
٣٣٥٦ - وَبِهِ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: قَوْلُهُ: إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ أَيْ: لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَى هَذَا غَيْرُكَ بِسُلْطَانِكَ وَقُدْرَتِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وتولج النهار في الليل

٣٣٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَتُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ قَالَ: يَأْخُذُ الصَّيْفَ مِنَ الشِّتَاءِ وَيَأْخُذُ الشِّتَاءَ مِنَ الصَّيْفِ.
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٣٣٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَتُولِجُ النَّهَارَ يَجْعَلُهُ فِي اللَّيْلِ، وَمَا يَنْقُصُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَجْعَلُهُ فِي النَّهَارِ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَمُجَاهِدٍ «١» فِي أَحَدِ قَوْلَيْهِ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ، وَعِكْرِمَةَ، وَالْحَسَنِ، وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، وَقَتَادَةَ نَحْو ذَلِكَ.
٣٣٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ:
تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ اللَّيْلُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَاعَةً، وَالنَّهَارُ تِسْعَ سَاعَاتٍ. وَتُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ النَّهَارُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَاعَةً، وَاللَّيْلُ تِسْعَ سَاعَاتٍ.
