[The Third Aspect]

3365 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' reported to us, from Sufyan, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "You bring the living out of the dead," he said: The palm tree from the date stone, and the ear of corn from the grain.

[The Fourth Aspect]

3366 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Tumaylah reported to us, Abu al-Munib reported to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "You bring the living out of the dead and you bring the dead out of the living," he said: The egg comes out of the living, and it is dead, then the living comes out of it.

His saying, the Exalted: "And You bring the dead out of the living"

[The First Aspect]

3367 - Muhammad b. Muhammad b. Mus'ab al-Suri narrated to us: Mu'ammal b. Isma'il reported to us, Hammad b. Salamah and Sufyan al-Thawri reported to us, from Sulayman al-Taymi, from Abu 'Uthman, from Salman, who said: 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Allah kept the clay of Adam in a state of fermentation for forty days, then He placed His hand into it, so there rose up from this every good thing, and from this every evil thing. Then He mixed one with the other"—and Mu'ammal demonstrated with his hands: like this—"and He blended one of them with the other, then He created Adam from it. From there, He brings the living out of the dead, and He brings the dead out of the living: the believer out of the disbeliever, and He brings the disbeliever out of the believer." Abu Muhammad said: Something similar was narrated from al-Hasan and Qatadah.

[The Second Aspect]

3368 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Salamah b. Raja' reported to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Abd Allah regarding His saying: "And You bring the dead out of the living," he said: He brings the dead nutfah (drop of fluid) out of the living man. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, Mujahid, Sa'id b. Jubayr, al-Dahhak, al-Nakha'i, and al-Suddi.

3369 - My father narrated to us, 'Isa b. Ja'far, the judge of al-Rayy, reported to us, Muslim b. Khalid reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding the saying of Allah: "You bring the living out of the dead and you bring the dead out of the living," he said: Human beings are the living who come from the nutaf (drops of fluid), and the nutaf are dead which come out of the living human beings, and likewise from the cattle and plants as well. Abu Muhammad said: There was no mention of plants in the versions of Warqa' and Shibl.
