3468 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, al-Walid b. al-Qasim reported to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, he said: The chaste (hasur) is he who has no children born to him and has no fluid. Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah and al-Rabi' b. Anas that they both said: He who has no children born to him.

The Third Aspect:

3469 - My father narrated to me, Ibrahim b. Muhammad b. Yusuf al-Firyabi reported to us, Damrah reported to us, from 'Uthman b. 'Ata', from his father regarding His saying: "And a noble and chaste," he said: One with a bent phallus.

His saying, the Exalted: "And a prophet from among the righteous."

3470 - My father narrated to us, 'Isa b. Hammad Zughbah and Muhammad b. Salamah al-Muradi narrated to us, they said: Hajjaj b. Sulayman b. al-Qamari reported to us, from al-Layth b. Sa'd, from Muhammad b. 'Ajlan, from al-Qa'qa', from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Every son of Adam will meet Allah with a sin he has committed; He will punish him for it if He wills, or have mercy upon him, except Yahya b. Zakariyya, for he was a noble, chaste, and a prophet from among the righteous." Then the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, reached out toward a speck on the ground, took it, and said: "His phallus was like this speck." My father said: No one possessed this hadith other than Hajjaj, and it was not in the book of al-Layth, and Hajjaj is a well-known scholar.

His saying, the Exalted: "He said: 'My Lord, how can I have a boy?'"

3471 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, he said: "My Lord, how can I have a boy?" he says: From where?

3472 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far reported to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas: "How can I have?" He said: How can it be for me?

His saying, the Exalted: "'And old age has already reached me and my wife is barren?' He said: 'Such is Allah; He does what He wills.'"

3473 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, he said: When he heard the call, the devil came to him and said: O Zakariyya, the voice you heard is not from Allah; it is only from the devil mocking you, and if it were from Allah, He would have revealed it to you as He reveals to others," as to the matter, so he doubted in his place. He said: "How can I have a boy?" he says: From where, "'And old age has already reached me and my wife is barren?' He said: 'Such is Allah; He does what He wills.'... And I have created you before, while you were nothing."

3474 - Abu Bakr b. Abi Musa narrated to us, Harun b. Hatim reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Hammad reported to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "Such is," he said: Meaning, like this.

His saying, the Exalted: "He said: 'My Lord, make a sign for me.'"

3475 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, he said: Zakariyya said: My Lord, if this voice is from You, then make a sign for me. He said: "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days except by gesture."

His saying, the Exalted: "He said: 'Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days.'"

3476 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr b. 'Ali al-Sayrafi reported to us, Abu Qutaybah narrated to me, Warqa' b. 'Umar reported to us, from 'Ata' b. al-Sa'ib, from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami regarding His saying: "Three days except by gesture," he said: His tongue was restrained without illness.

3477 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, he said: "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days except by gesture," his tongue was restrained for three days and three nights.

3478 - Al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah, he said: "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days except by gesture," he said: Gesturing, and it was a punishment he was penalized with because he asked for the sign after the angels had spoken to him with what they gave him glad tidings of.

His saying, the Exalted: "Except by gesture"

[The First Aspect]

3479 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uthman b. Abi Shaybah reported to us, Salamah b. al-Fadl reported to us, from Isma'il b. Muslim, from Humayd al-A'raj, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The gesture is with the lips.
