3681 - And by the same chain, from Abu Malik: "And a faction of the People of the Scripture said, 'Believe in what was revealed to those who have believed at the break of the day,'" he said: The Jews, their rabbis were saying to those who were subordinate to them: "Believe in Muhammad and his companions at the beginning of the day, and say, 'We are of your religion.' Then, when it is the end of it, come to them and say: 'We are of our original religion, and we have asked our scholars, and they have informed us that you are not upon anything.'"

Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from al-Suddi that he said: "Enter into the religion of Muhammad and say: 'We bear witness that Muhammad is the truth.'"

3682 - al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Believe in what was revealed to those who have believed," he said: They said to one another: "Give them satisfaction with their religion."

3683 - Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya b. Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Suwayd b. 'Amr narrated to us, Abu Kudaynah Yahya b. al-Muhallab narrated to us, from Qabus, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And a faction of the People of the Scripture said, 'Believe in what was revealed to those who have believed at the break of the day,'" he said: They would be with him at the beginning of the day, arguing with them and speaking to them.

3684 - al-Hajjaj b.
