Volume 2 · Page 329His saying, the Exalted: 'Say: Indeed, the guidance is the guidance of Allah'

3692 - Ahmad b. 'Uthman b. Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad b. al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: So Allah informed His Messenger of that, and they said: "Do not trust except for those who follow Judaism." They said: "Do not trust except for those who follow your religion."

His saying, the Exalted: "Say, 'Indeed, the guidance is the guidance of Allah'"

3693 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah b. Musa narrated to us, from Isra'il, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik who said: The Jews said: "And do not trust except for those who follow your religion." So Allah revealed: "Say, 'Indeed, the guidance is the guidance of Allah.'"

Abu Muhammad said: And it was narrated from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And do not trust except for those who follow your religion," [that] Allah said to Muhammad: "Indeed, the guidance is the guidance of Allah."

3694 - 'Ali b. al-Mubarak reported to me in what he wrote to me, Zayd b. al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj regarding His saying: "Indeed, the guidance is the guidance of Allah," he said: This is the matter which you are upon.

His saying, the Exalted: "That anyone is given the like of what you have been given"

[The First Aspect]

3695 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah b. Musa narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik and Sa'id b. Jubayr regarding His saying: "That anyone is given the like of what you have been given," they both said: The nation of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

3696 - Muhammad b. 'Uthman narrated to us, Ahmad b. Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "That anyone is given the like of what you have been given," he says: "That anyone is given the like of what you have been given, O nation of Muhammad."

And the Second Aspect:

3697 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "That anyone is given the like of what you have been given," [that is] out of envy from the Jews that prophethood should be in others besides them, and the desire that they be followed in their religion.

٣٦٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ: فَأَخْبَرَ اللَّهُ رَسُولَهُ بِذَلِكَ وَقَالُوا: لَا تُؤْمِنُوا إِلا لِمَنْ تَبِعَ الْيَهُودِيَّةَ قَالُوا: لَا تُؤْمِنُوا إِلا لِمَنْ تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ.

قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: قُلْ إِنَّ الْهُدَى هُدَى اللَّهِ

٣٦٩٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ قَالَ الْيَهُودُ: وَلا تُؤْمِنُوا إِلا لِمَنْ تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ: قُلْ إِنَّ الْهُدَى هُدَى اللَّهِ

قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: وَلا تُؤْمِنُوا إِلا لِمَنْ تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ لِمُحَمَّدٍ إِنَّ الْهُدَى هُدَى اللَّهَ.

٣٦٩٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ثنا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَوْلُهُ: إِنَّ الْهُدَى هُدَى اللَّهِ قَالَ هَذَا الأَمْرُ الَّذِي أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ.

قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: أَنْ يُؤْتَى أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيتُمْ

٣٦٩٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَنْبَأَ إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَولُهُ: أَنْ يؤتى أحد مثل ما أوتيتم قَالا:

أُمَّةُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

٣٦٩٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: أَنْ يُؤْتَى أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيتُمْ يَقُولُ: مَا أُوتِيَ أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيتُمْ يَا أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٣٦٩٧ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» أَنْ يُؤْتَى أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيتُمْ حَسَدًا مِنْ يَهُودٍ أَنْ تَكُونَ النُّبُوَّةُ فِي غَيْرِهِمْ، وإرادة أن يتابعوا على دينهم.
