The Second Aspect:
3703 - Al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "He singles out for His mercy whom He wills," he said: His mercy is Islam; He singles out for it whom He wills.
His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is the Possessor of the great bounty."
3704 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr regarding His saying: "The Great," he means: Abundant.
His saying, the Exalted: "And among the People of the Scripture is he who, if you entrust him with a qintar (a weight of gold), he will return it to you. And among them is he who, if you entrust him with a single dinar, he will not return it to you."
3705 - Al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "And among the People of the Scripture is he who, if you entrust him with a qintar, he will return it to you. And among them is he who, if you entrust him with a single dinar, he will not return it to you," he said: There were debts owed to the companions of Muhammad, if we held them, and they [the debtors] were the People of the Scripture; they were commanded to return to every Muslim his covenant.
3706 - Sa'id b. 'Amr al-Sukuni al-Himsi reported to me in what he wrote to me, Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Ziyad b. al-Haytham, Malik b. Dinar narrated to me, he said: The dinar was only named as such because it is a debt (dayn) and a fire (nar).
He said: Its meaning is: Whoever takes it by his right, it is his debt; and whoever takes it without his right, for him is the Fire.
And the explanation of the qintar has already preceded in the beginning of Surat Al 'Imran.
His saying, the Exalted: "Unless you are, as long as you are, standing over him."
[The First Aspect]
3707 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Unless you are, as long as you are, standing over him," meaning: Persistently. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar to this was narrated from 'Ata'.
3708 - Al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding "as long as you are standing over him," he said: You demand it from him.
Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from al-Rabi' b. Anas and Qatadah that they both said: Except what you have requested and pursued.
3709 - Ahmad b. 'Uthman b. Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad b. al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "as long as you are standing over him," he says: Acknowledging his trust as long as you are standing over him; but when you stand up [to leave] and then come back asking for it, the one who returns it [might] deny you, as well as the one who repudiates it.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٣٧٠٣ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحْكَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ فَقَالَ: رَحْمَتُهُ الإِسْلامُ يَخْتَصُّ بِهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ
٣٧٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ قوله: العظيم يَعْنِي: وَافِرٌ
قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ إِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنْطَارٍ يُؤَدِّهِ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ إِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِينَارٍ لَا يُؤَدِّهِ إِلَيْكَ
٣٧٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحْكَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَوْلُهُ: وَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ إِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنْطَارٍ يُؤَدِّهِ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ إِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِينَارٍ لَا يُؤَدِّهِ إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ: كَانَتْ تَكُونُ دُيُونٌ «١» لأَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ إِنْ أَمْسَكْنَاهَا، وَهُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أُمِرُوا أَنْ يُؤَدُّوا إِلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ عَهْدَهُ.
٣٧٠٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السَّكُونِيُّ، الْحِمْصِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ الْهَيْثَمِ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الدِّينَارُ لأَنَّهُ دَيْنٌ وَنَارٌ.
قَالَ: مَعْنَاهُ: إِنَّ مَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِحَقِّهِ فَهُوَ دَينُهُ، وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ فَلَهُ النَّارُ.
وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ تَفْسِيرُ الْقِنْطَارِ فِي أَوَّلِ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ «٢» .

٣٧٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلُهُ: إِلا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَائِمًا مُوَاظِبًا. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
٣٧٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «٣» ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَائِمًا قَالَ: تَقْتَضِيهِ إِيَّاهُ.
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَقَتَادَةَ أَنَّهُمَا قَالا: إِلا مَا طَلَبْتَهُ وَاتَّبَعْتَهُ.
٣٧٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَائِمًا يقول: مُعْتَرِفٌ بِأَمَانَتِهِ مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَائِمًا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، فَإِذَا قُمْتَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ تَطْلُبُهُ كَافَرَكَ الَّذِي يُؤَدِّي، وَالَّذِي يَجْحَدُ «٤»
