The Fourth Aspect:
3749 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab b. al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr b. 'Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Rabbaniyyun (godly scholars/teachers) because you have been teaching the Book and because you have been studying it," he said: They are the learned scholars and jurists. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar to this has been narrated from al-Hasan, Sa'id b. Jubayr, Qatadah, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, al-Rabi' b. Anas, and 'Atiyyah.
His saying, the Exalted: "because you have been teaching the Book"
3750 - My father narrated to us, 'Umar b. Hafs b. Ghiyath narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Maymun Abu 'Abd Allah al-Warraq al-Khurasani, he said: I heard al-Dahhak saying regarding His saying: "'Be Rabbaniyyun' because you have been teaching the Book and because you have been studying it," he said: It is a duty upon whoever reads the Qur'an that he should be a jurist (faqih).
3751 - Sulayman b. Dawud al-Qazzaz mentioned, Yahya b. Adam narrated to us, from Ibn 'Uyaynah, from Humayd al-A'raj, from Mujahid, regarding "because you have been teaching," [he said]: The truth of what they taught until they became knowledgeable.
3752 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ahmad b. Bashir narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, he said: Neither a free man nor a slave is excused if he does not learn as much of the Qur'an as he is able and strive in it, for Allah the Exalted says: "'Be Rabbaniyyun' because you have been teaching the Book."
3753 - Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Hall al-Qahandazi wrote to me, 'Umar b. 'Abd al-Ghaffar al-Qahandazi narrated to us, he said: Sufyan b. 'Uyaynah said: Whoever reads it as "because you have been teaching (tu'allimuna) the Book," he said: He is saying that they learned and acted, then they taught.
His saying, the Exalted: "the Book"
3754 - My father mentioned it, Muqatil b. Muhammad narrated to us, he said: I heard Waki' saying regarding this verse: We have heard [it] regarding "because you have been teaching the Book," he said: The Qur'an.
His saying, the Exalted: "and because you have been studying it"
3755 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Azraq b. 'Ali narrated to us, Hassan b. Ibrahim narrated to us, he narrated to us...
