may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and they would narrate to them, and they would deem it true. They mentioned that to the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: "Do not confirm them and do not deny them; rather, say: We have believed in Allah."
His saying, the Exalted: "and the Descendants [Al-Asbat]"
3782 - 'Isam b. Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: The Asbat (Descendants) are Joseph and his brothers, the twelve sons of Jacob. Each man among them fathered a nation of people, and thus they were called the Asbat. Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from Qatadah and al-Rabi' b. Anas similar to this.
3783 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad b. Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: As for the Asbat, they are the sons of Jacob: Joseph, Benjamin, Reuben, Judah, Simeon, Levi, Dan, and Qahat.
His saying, the Exalted: "and what was given to Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord"
3784 - Muhammad b. Abi Muhammad al-Suri narrated to us, Mu'ammal b. Isma'il narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Humayd narrated to us, from Abu al-Malih, from Ma'qil b. Yasar, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Believe in the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel, and let the Quran suffice you."
3785 - Muhammad b. 'Ubayd Allah b. al-Munadi informed us in what he wrote to me, Yunus b. Muhammad al-Mu'addib narrated to us, Shayban al-Nahwi narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding "and what was given to Moses and Jesus," he said: Allah commanded the believers to believe in it and to affirm all His scriptures and His messengers.
3786 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abbas al-Khallal narrated to us, Marwan b. Muhammad narrated to us, Kulthum b. Ziyad narrated to us, he said: I heard Sulayman b. Habib al-Muharibi saying: "We have only been commanded to believe in the Torah, not to act upon what is within it."
His saying, the Exalted: "We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him."
3787 - Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid b. Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims to Him," he said: Allah commanded the believers not to make any distinction between any of them."
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَيُحَدِّثُونَهُمْ فَيُسَبِّحُونَ، فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: لَا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ وَلا تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ.
[قوله تعالى والأسباط]
٣٧٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قَالَ: الأَسْبَاطُ: هُوَ يُوسُفُ وإخوته بنوا يَعْقُوبَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلا، وَلَدَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أُمَّةً مِنَ النَّاسِ فَسُمُّوا الأَسْبَاطَ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
٣٧٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ: وَأَمَّا الأَسْبَاطُ فَهُمْ بَنُو يَعْقُوبَ: يُوسُفُ، وَبِنْيَامِينُ وَرُوبِيلُ، وَيَهُوذَا وَشَمْعُونُ، وَلَاوِي، وَدَانٌ وَقِهَاثٌ.
قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى وَعِيسَى وَالنَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ
٣٧٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: آمِنُوا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ وَالزَّبُورِ وَالإِنْجِيلِ وَلْيَسَعْكُمُ الْقُرْآنُ.
٣٧٨٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُنَادِي فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، ثنا شَيْبَانُ النَّحْوِيُّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى وَعِيسَى قَالَ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ، وَيُصَدِّقُوا بِكُتُبِهِ كُلِّهَا وَبِرُسُلِهِ.
٣٧٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا عَبَّاسٌ الْخَلالُ، ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا كُلْثُومُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ حَبِيبٍ الْمُحَارِبِيَّ يَقُولُ: إِنَّمَا أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُؤْمِنَ بِالتَّوْرَاةِ وَلا نَعْمَلَ بِمَا فِيهَا.
قَولُهُ تَعَالَى: لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ
٣٧٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ قَالَ: أَمَرَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ لَا يُفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ.
