3803 - Ahmad b. 'Isam al-Ansari narrated to us, Abu 'Asim narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Dawud—meaning Abu Hind—from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding: "Never will their repentance be accepted," he said: They repented from some things but did not repent from the original [act of disbelief].

[The second interpretation]

3804 - al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, Ma'mar reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "then increased in disbelief, never will their repentance be accepted," he said: They increased in disbelief when death approached them, so their repentance will not be accepted when death approaches them. Ma'mar said: 'Ata' said something similar to this. Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from al-Hasan similar to this.

His saying, the Exalted: "And it is they who are the astray"

3805 - 'Ali b. al-Hasan narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Yazid b. Zuray' narrated to us, from Dawud, from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding "Never will their repentance be accepted, and it is they who are the astray," he said: If they had been upon guidance, their repentance would have been accepted, but they are upon misguidance.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those who disbelieved and died while they are disbelievers"

3806 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, who said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "Indeed, those who disbelieved and died while they are disbelievers," he said: It refers to every disbeliever.

His saying, the Exalted: "Never will the fill of the earth in gold be accepted from anyone of them, even if he were to offer it as ransom"

3807 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father regarding His saying: "Indeed, those who disbelieved and died while they are disbelievers, never will the fill of the earth in gold be accepted from anyone of them, even if he were to offer it as ransom," he said: Qatadah mentioned from Anas b. Malik that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The disbeliever will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to him: 'Do you see, if you had the fill of the earth in gold, would you offer it as a ransom?' He will say: 'Yes.' It will be said to him: 'You were asked for something easier than that.'"
