His saying: "And those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally."

Its explanation has preceded. Verse 39.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah."

2040 - My father narrated to us, al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Mu'tamir b. Sulayman narrated to us, from his father, al-Hadrami narrated to me, from Abu al-Sawwar, from Jundub b. 'Abd Allah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent a group, and he appointed 'Abd Allah b. Jahsh over them. Some of the polytheists said: "If they have not incurred a sin, they have no reward." So Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, revealed: "Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah—those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

His saying: "Those expect the mercy of Allah."

2041 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas, regarding His saying: "Those expect the mercy of Allah"—he said: "These are the best of this Ummah, then Allah made them people of hope. Indeed, whoever hopes, seeks; and whoever fears, flees."

2042 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, Ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Yazid b. Ruman and al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah b. al-Zubayr, he said: When Allah relieved the Muslims of that expedition from the grief they were in, due to what they had encountered, they coveted the reward that is with Allah. They said: "O Prophet of Allah, do you hope for us that there might be an expedition in which we are granted the reward of the mujahidin (fighters) in the cause of Allah?" So Allah, the Exalted, revealed: "Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah—those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

2043 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: Then He returned to the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and forgave them, so He said: "Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah—those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

His saying, the Exalted: "They ask you about khamr (wine/intoxicants)."

2044 - Ahmad b. Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr b. Shurahbil, he said: 'Umar said: "O Allah, clarify for us [the ruling] on khamr." So there was revealed: "In them is great sin and benefits for people." He said: "O Allah, clarify for us [the ruling] on khamr." So there was revealed: "Do not approach..."
