the verse. They said: "O Allah, we have desisted." We then poured it out when it was proclaimed: "Know that khamr has been prohibited." Thabit said to Anas: "And what was your khamr?" He said: "This fadih (fermented beverage) of yours."
2049 - My father narrated to us, Muslim b. Ibrahim narrated to us, Hisham al-Dastawa'i narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Sa'id b. al-Musayyib, he said: "Khamr (intoxicants) was only named as such because it is clarified (safa) of its purity, and its impurities settle to the bottom."

2050 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Shuja' b. al-Walid Abu Badr narrated to us, from Musa b. 'Uqbah, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, he said: "Maysir is gambling."
2051 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And maysir is gambling." He said: "Maysir was only named as such due to their saying: 'Let us raffle (aysiru) a slaughtered camel,' just as one says: 'Place such and such.'"
Abu Muhammad said: It has been narrated from 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud, Ibn 'Abbas, 'Ata', Tawus, Sa'id b. Jubayr, al-Hasan, Ibn Sirin, Qatadah, Muqatil, al-Suddi, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani something similar.
The second viewpoint:
2052 - Ahmad b. Mansur al-Ramadi narrated to us, Hisham b. 'Ammar narrated to us, Sadaqah narrated to us, 'Uthman b. Abi al-'Atikah narrated to us, from 'Ali b. Yazid, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umamah, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: "Avoid these marked dice (ka'ab) which are used for gaming, for they are among the maysir."
2053 - Muhammad b. 'Abd Allah b. Yazid narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik b. 'Umayr and Ibrahim al-Hajari, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abd Allah, he said: "Beware of these gaming dice, for they are the maysir of the non-Arabs (Ajam)." Abu Muhammad said: And it is narrated from 'Ali, Ibn 'Umar, and 'Aishah something similar.

الْآيَةُ. قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ قَدِ انْتَهَيْنَا، فَأَرَقْنَاهَا إِذْ نُودِيَ: أَلا إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ قَدْ حُرِّمَتْ قَالَ ثَابِتٌ لأَنَسٍ: وَمَا كَانَ خَمْرُكُمْ؟ قَالَ: فَضِيخُكُمْ «١» هَذَا «٢» .

قَوْلُهُ: وَالْمَيْسِرُ الْقِمَارُ- قَالَ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْمَيْسِرُ لِقَوْلِهِمْ: أَيْسِرُوا جَزُورًا، كَقَوْلِكَ: ضَعْ كَذَا وَكَذَا.
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاس وَعَطَاءٍ وَطَاوُسٍ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَالْحَسَنِ وَابْنِ سِيرِينَ وَقَتَادَةَ وَمُقَاتِلٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ، نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٢٠٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا صَدَقَةُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاتِكَةِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: اجْتَنِبُوا هَذِهِ الْكِعَابَ الْمَرْسُومَةَ الَّتِي يُزْجَرُ بِهَا زَجْرًا فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْمَيْسِرِ.
٢٠٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ الْهَجَرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: إِيَّاكُمْ وَهَذِهِ الْكِعَابُ الْمُومِسَاتُ، فَإِنَّهَا مَيْسِرُ الْعَجَمِ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَيُرْوَى عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَعَائِشَةَ، نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
