His saying, the Exalted: "They are your brothers."

2085 - Za'idah mentioned, from Mansur, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas, he recited to us this verse: "And if you mix your affairs with theirs, they are your brothers in religion."

2086 - Musa b. Harun al-Tusi informed us, in what he wrote to me: al-Husayn b. Muhammad narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "They are your brothers," he said: They are of the brotherhood of Islam.

His saying: "And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender."

2087 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah b. Musa narrated to us, from Isra'il, from al-Suddi, from the one who narrated to him, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender," he said: He who deliberately consumes the wealth of the orphan, and he who exercises caution regarding it and does not fail to improve it.

2088 - My father narrated to us, 'Isa b. Ja'far narrated to us, Muslim b. Khalid narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender," meaning: Allah is not hidden from those among you who intend improvement for them and those who intend corruption toward them. Abu Muhammad said: It is also narrated from Muqatil b. Hayyan and al-Suddi, similar to that.

His saying: "And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise."

2089 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah b. Musa narrated to us, from Isra'il, from al-Suddi, from the one who narrated to him, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty," he said: If He had willed, He would not have made lawful for you that which you obtained without intending [to consume it].

2090 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah b. Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali b. Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty," he says: If Allah had willed, He would have caused you hardship and narrowed [matters] for you, but He expanded and eased it, and so He said: "And whoever is wealthy should refrain, and whoever is poor should eat according to what is honorable."

2091 - My father narrated to us, Yahya b. al-Mughirah narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from Mansur, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding the saying of Allah: "And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty," [he said]: If Allah had willed, He would have made what you obtained from the wealth of the orphans a cause of destruction.
