His saying, the Most High: "for whoever wishes to complete the nursing"
[The First Aspect]
2266 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Hammad b. Khalid al-Khayyat narrated to us, from Abu Dhi'b, from al-Zuhri, who said: Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas were asked about nursing after two years, and he recited: "And the mothers shall nurse their children for two whole years, for whoever wishes to complete the nursing."
2267 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the statement of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic: "for whoever wishes to complete the nursing," meaning: to perfect the nursing. It has been narrated from Muqatil b. Hayyan something similar.
2268 - Usayd b. 'Asim narrated to us, Husayn b. Hafs narrated to us, he said: Sufyan said regarding: "And the mothers shall nurse their children for two whole years, for whoever wishes to complete the nursing," and the completion is two years.

Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi', regarding His saying: "And the mothers shall nurse their children for two whole years," then Allah sent down the concession and the alleviation after that and said: "for whoever wishes to complete the nursing." It has been narrated from Qatadah something similar.
And the second aspect:
2270 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab b. Wadih narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: I said to 'Ata': His saying: "And the mothers shall nurse their children for two whole years, for whoever wishes to complete the nursing." He said: If his mother wants to fall short of two years, it was incumbent upon her to fulfill it; she does not exceed it unless she wishes to.
His saying, the Most High: "And upon the father of the child"
2271 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' b. Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id b. Jubayr: "And upon the father of the child," meaning: the father who has a child. It has been narrated from Muqatil b. Hayyan, al-Dahhak, al-Rabi' b. Anas, and al-Thawri something similar.
(1). Ibn 'Abbas said: "And whatever was after two years, then it is not anything." Ibn Kathir said: This is the most correct (1/417).
