And it was narrated from al-Zuhri something similar to the statement of Sa'id.
His saying: "Through mutual consent from both of them"
2295 - And by the same chain, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "Through mutual consent from both of them," he says: They both agreed upon that.
2296 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "Through mutual consent from both of them and consultation," he says: If they desire to wean him before the two years and they both consent to that, then they may wean him. If she says: 'I have no strength for it, my milk has gone,' then he should hire another woman to breastfeed him, and he should pay her her wage for the amount she has breastfed.
His saying, the Most High: "And consultation"
2297 - Al-Ahmas narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding "And if they both desire weaning, through mutual consent from both of them and consultation," he said: The consultation is concerning [weaning] before the two years. It is not for her to wean him unless he consents, and it is not for him to wean him unless she consents.
2298 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas, regarding "And if they both desire weaning, through mutual consent from both of them and consultation," he says: When that is done with consultation and consent from both of them.
His saying, the Most High: "Then there is no blame upon them"
2299 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah b. Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali b. Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, meaning his saying: "Then there is no blame upon them"—meaning there is no reproach upon them if they wean him before the two years or after it. It was narrated from Sa'id b. Jubayr something similar.
His saying, the Most High: "And if you desire to have your children breastfed"
2300 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And if you desire to have your children breastfed"—out of fear of the child being lost/neglected.
2301 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab b. Wadih narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: I asked 'Ata' regarding his saying: "And if you desire to have your children breastfed," he said: [This includes] his mother and someone else.
