Translation · EN

women," he said: He says to her during the waiting period: I truly have a desire for you and I am truly keen on you, and things similar to this. Abu Muhammad said: It is narrated from Mujahid, Tawus, al-Sha'bi, 'Ikrimah, al-Hasan, Sa'id b. Jubayr, Ibrahim, al-Zuhri, Yazid b. Qust, Muqatil b. Hayyan, Qatadah, and al-Qasim, the like of the narration of Ibn 'Abbas.

His saying, the Exalted: "Or you keep it within yourselves"

2328 - al-Mundhir b. Shadhan narrated to us, Hawdhah narrated to me, 'Awf reported to us, from al-Hasan, regarding "Or you keep it within yourselves," he said: He says: You have concealed it.

2329 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "Or you keep it within yourselves"—that he enters, greets, and offers a gift if he wishes, without speaking of anything.

His saying, the Exalted: "Allah knows that you will remember them"

[The First Aspect]

2330 - Muhammad b. Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' reported to us, from Yazid b. Ibrahim, from al-Hasan, regarding "Allah knows that you will remember them," he said: With a proposal.

The Second Aspect:

2331 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Idris reported to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Allah knows that you will remember them," he said: It is his remembering her within himself.

His saying, the Exalted: "But do not make a promise to them in secret"

[The First Aspect]

2332 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah b. Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali b. Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "But do not make a promise to them in secret," he says: That you make a covenant with her, "Do not marry anyone other than me," and things similar to this.

It is narrated from Mujahid, al-Sha'bi, Abu al-Duha, al-Dahhak, Sa'id b. Jubayr, Ibn Shihab, and 'Ikrimah; they said: He should not take a pledge from her that she will not marry anyone other than him.
