2369 - Al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhallim reported to us, 'Abd al-Kabir b. 'Abd al-Majid al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur reported to us, saying: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "And do not forget graciousness between you." He said: Graciousness in everything. He commanded them to treat one another with graciousness, to adopt it between themselves, to exchange it, and for some of them to show mercy to others in all matters of graciousness, as well as in forgoing, financial support, and everything that transpires between people.
[The Fourth Aspect]
Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Jibal b. Hammad b. Farqad al-Balkhi al-Qahandazi wrote to me, 'Umar b. 'Abd al-Ghaffar reported to us, Sufyan reported to us, from Abu Harun, who said: I saw 'Awn b. 'Abd Allah in the gathering of al-Qurazi, and 'Awn was narrating to us while his beard was wet from weeping, and he was saying: I associated with the wealthy, and I was among them the most anxious when I saw them with better clothes, more pleasant scents, and better mounts than me, so I sat with the poor and found rest. And he said: "Do not forget graciousness between you." If a beggar comes to one of you and he has nothing, let him pray for him.
His saying: The Exalted, "Maintain the prayers."
[The First Aspect]
2370 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, al-Muharibi and Ibn Fudayl reported to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu al-Duha, from Masruq, regarding "Maintain the prayers," he said: Maintaining them means maintaining their times. And negligence regarding them means negligence regarding their times.
[The Second Aspect]
2371 - I read to Muhammad b. al-Fadl, Muhammad b. 'Ali b. Shaqiq reported to us, Muhammad b. Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr b. Ma'ruf, from Muqatil b. Hayyan, regarding his saying: "Maintain the prayers," he means: their times, their ablutions, the recitation of the Quran during them, the takbir (proclamation of greatness), the ruku' (bowing), the tashahhud (testimony), and the prayer upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Whoever does that has perfected them and maintained them.

2372 - Muhammad b. Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn reported to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Maintain the prayers," he means: the prescribed ones. It was reported from al-Dahhak the like of that.
٢٣٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَلِّمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الْحَنَفِيُّ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْحَسَنَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَنْسَوُا الْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْ قَالَ: الْفَضْلُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُلْقُوا بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ بَعْضٍ فَيَأْخُذُوا بِالْفَضْلِ بَيْنَهُمْ وَيَتَعَاطَوهُ، وَيَرْحَمَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ مِنَ الْفَضْلِ كُلِّهِ، وَالْعَفْوُ وَالنَّفَقَةُ، وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَكُونُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ.

كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ جِبَالِ بْنِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ الْقَهَنْدَزِيُّ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْغَفَّارِ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي هَارُونَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَوْنَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِي مَجْلِسِ الْقُرَظِيِّ، فَكَانَ عَوْنٌ يُحَدِّثُنَا، وَلِحْيَتُهُ تَرُشُّ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ وَيَقُولُ: صَحِبْتُ الأَغْنِيَاءَ، فَكُنْتُ مِنْ أَكْثَرِهِمْ هَمًّا حِينَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ أَحْسَنَ ثِيَابًا وَأَطْيَبَ رِيحًا وَأَحْسَنَ مَرْكَبًا مِنِّي فَجَالَسْتُ الْفُقَرَاءَ فَاسْتَرَحْتُ. وَقَالَ: لَا تَنْسَوُا الْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْ، إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدَكُمُ السَّائِلُ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ شَيْءٌ فَلْيَدْعُ لَهُ.

٢٣٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ثنا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، وَابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ قَالَ: الْمُحَافَظَةُ عَلَيْهَا: الْمُحَافَظَةُ عَلَى وَقْتِهَا. وَالسَّهْوُ عَنْهَا: السَّهْوُ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا.

٢٣٧١ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، ابنا محمد ابْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ يَعْنِي: مواقيتها، ووضوئها، وَتِلاوَةَ الْقُرْآنِ فِيهَا، وَالتَّكْبِيرَ وَالرُّكُوعَ، وَالتَّشَهُّدَ وَالصَّلاةَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ أَتَمَّهَا وَحَافَظَ عَلَيْهَا.

٢٣٧٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ يَعْنِي: الْمَكْتُوبَاتِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
