4417 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding His saying: "And consult them in the matter," he said: Allah commanded His Prophet to consult his companions in matters, even though revelation came to him from heaven, because it is more pleasing to their souls.

4418 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn Yazid informed us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah: the same as that, except he added: And when a people consult one another and seek by that the Face of Allah, Allah decrees for them the most righteous of it.

4419 - It was mentioned from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Abu Isma'il, meaning: Jabir ibn Isma'il, from Ibn 'Awn, from Ibn Sirin, from 'Ubaydah regarding: "And consult them in the matter," he said: In war.

4420 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding His saying: "And consult them in the matter," meaning: to show them that you hear from them and seek their aid, even if you are independent of them, that you may unify them by that in their religion.

[The Second Aspect]

4421 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, who said: Ibn 'Abbas read: "And consult them in some of the matter."

His saying, the Exalted: "And when you have decided."

4422 - My father narrated to us, 'Umar al-Duri narrated to us, Abu 'Umarah, meaning: Hamzah ibn al-Qasim, narrated to us, from Abi Tumaylah, from Abi Munib, who said: I heard Jabir ibn Zayd and Abu Nahik reciting: "And when I have decided for you, O Muhammad, in a matter, then rely upon Allah."

It was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas that he said: Allah commanded him, if he decided upon a matter, to proceed with it. The same was narrated from Qatadah.

4423 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding His saying: "And when you have decided upon a matter" that has come to you from Me, or a matter regarding your religion in the jihad against your enemy, in which nothing is suitable for you or for them except that, then proceed upon what you have been commanded, against those who oppose you and in agreement with those who agree with you.

His saying, the Exalted: "Then rely upon Allah."

4424 - And by the same chain, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Then rely upon Allah," meaning: be pleased with Him instead of the servants. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].
