of the polytheists. As for the coward, he returned, while the brave took the provisions for trade and the provisions for battle. They said: 'Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.' Then they went out until they arrived and traded there, but they did not find anyone. So Allah the Exalted revealed: 'Those to whom the people said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them; but it increased them in faith, and they said: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs."
His saying, the Exalted: "So they returned with favor from Allah."
4523 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went to the appointment of Abu Sufyan until they descended at Badr. They encountered the market, so they traded, and that is the saying of Allah the Exalted: "So they returned with favor from Allah."
4524 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Kathir informed us, from Husayn, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "So they returned with favor from Allah," he said: They did not meet anyone.
4525 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "So they returned with favor from Allah," as for the favor, it is: well-being (al-‘afiyah).
His saying, the Exalted: "And bounty."
4526 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And bounty, no evil touched them," and the bounty is: what they acquired of trade and reward. It was also narrated from al-Suddi similarly.
4527 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Abd al-A‘la narrated to us, Ya‘qub narrated to us, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty," he said: With a bounty they acquired from the market of ‘Ukaz.
His saying, the Exalted: "No evil touched them."
4528 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Kathir informed us, from Husayn, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "No evil touched them," he said: Nothing touched them but good.
4529 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d al-‘Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "And bounty, no evil touched them," he said: No one harmed them.
مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، فَأَمَّا الْجَبَانُ فَرَجَعَ، وَأَمَّا الشُّجَاعُ فَأَخَذَ أُهْبَةَ التِّجَارَةِ، وَأُهْبَةَ الْقِتَالِ، وَقَالُوا: حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ، ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا حَتَّى جَاءُوا فَتَسَوَّقُوا بِهَا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا بِهَا أَحَداً، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ
٤٥٢٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَوْعِدِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، حَتَّى نَزَلُوا بَدْراً، فَوَافَقُوا السُّوقَ، فَابْتَاعُوا، وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: فَانْقَلَبُوا بنعمة من الله
٤٥٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَنْبَأَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ قَوْلَهُ: فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: لَمْ يَلْقُوا أَحَداً.
٤٥٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلَهُ: فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَمَّا النِّعْمَةُ فَهِيَ: الْعَافِيَةُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَفَضْلٍ
٤٥٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَوْلَهُ: وَفَضْلٍ لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ وَالْفَضْلُ: مَا أَصَابُوا مِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَالأَجْرِ، وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
٤٥٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ قَالَ: بِفَضْلٍ أَصَابُوهُ مِنْ سُوقِ عُكَاظَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ
٤٥٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَنْبَأَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ: قَوْلَهُ: لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ قَالَ: لَمْ يُصِبْهُمْ إِلا خَيْرٌ.
٤٥٢٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: وَفَضْلٍ لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ قَالَ:
لَمْ يُؤْذِهِمْ أَحَدٌ.
