"O Abu Bahr, will you not incline [toward us] so that we may carry you on a mount?" He replied, "O son of my brother, are you perhaps one of the 'arradun (the displayers)?" He asked, "And what are the 'arradun?" He said, "Those who love to be praised for what they have not done." He said, "I am... I am..." He said, "O son of my brother, when the truth is presented to you, direct your focus toward it and turn away from all else."

His saying, the Exalted: "So do not think them to be in safety from the punishment."

4653 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, from my paternal uncle al-Husayn, from Ibn 'Abbas, Allah the Exalted said to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "So do not think them to be in safety from the punishment": because of what they have brought, they disbelieved in Allah the Exalted and disbelieved in Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

4654 - 'Ubayd Allah ibn Isma'il al-Baghdadi narrated to us, Khalaf, meaning: Ibn Hisham, narrated to us, al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Harun, from Yahya ibn Ya'mar: "So do not think them": meaning, their own selves.

His saying, the Exalted: "And for them is a painful punishment." Its interpretation has already preceded.

His saying, the Exalted: "And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth." Its interpretation has already preceded.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth..." (to the end of the verse).

4655 - My father narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, from Ja'far, meaning: Ibn Abi al-Mughirah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The Quraysh came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "Call upon your Lord for us to make the Safa mountain gold for us." So he called upon his Lord, and [this verse] was revealed: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding."

His saying, the Exalted: "Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides."

[The First Aspect]

4656 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Qabisah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, from Abu Mas'ud: "Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides," he said: This is only regarding prayer; if you cannot [pray] standing, then sitting, and if you cannot [pray] sitting, then on your side.
